The premier attraction of Dorrigo is the World Heritage-listed Dorrigo National Park, and the Rainforest Centre, with its educational interpretation centre. This is also the gallery for a regularly changing display of local artworks. From the Rainforest
Centre, you can take a stroll on the Skywalk for a close up view of the rainforest canopy, and magnificent views over the rainforest, down to the Bellinger Valley and sometimes as far as the Pacific Ocean.
Several walking tracks start from the Rainforest Centre, or The Glade picnic area right next door, which will take you right underneath waterfalls, and through glades where you can walk with the wildlife. The subtropical rainforest can be seen at its best on the 2.5hr Wonga Walk, which also takes you to the Crystal Shower Falls. If this seems a bit long, there are other much shorter walks as well, such as the Walk with the Birds boardwalk (200m return), which runs through the rainforest canopy and brings you close up to the birds, the Lyrebird Link Track (800m return) and the Satinbird Stroll (600m circuit), all close to the Rainforest Centre.
They frequently host special events, such as events which are part of the Bellingen Readers’ and Writers” Festival, and artists’ exhibition openings.
